Aubyn Hill is the Chief
Executive Officer of Corporate
Strategies Ltd., a financial advisory, restructuring
and consulting firm. In July 2005 he was appointed
by the Minister of Finance to a three-year term as
Chairman of the National Investment Bank of Jamaica
(NIBJ) .
After 25 years in
the banking industry overseas, Mr. Hill served as
Group Managing Director of National Commercial
Bank Jamaica Limited (NCB) from September
1, 2002 to November 30, 2004. Three days later he
was approached to act in the consultant role of Chief
Restructuring Officer of the ailing national airline,
Air Jamaica.
During his two years as leader of the NCB Management team, net profit moved from J$317 million (@ US$1=J$48) at September 2002 to J$3.2 billion at the end of September 2004. The stock price moved from J$5.50 when he joined to reach a high of J$31.50. Dividend payments were restored in mid-2002.
A graduate of Munro College, in St. Elizabeth, the University of Miami and the Harvard Business School, Boston, where he earned his MBA degree, his career as a banker began in 1978 when he joined American Express International Banking Corporation (AEIBC) headquartered in New York directly from business school. Mr. Hill subsequently served in senior positions at AEIBC's offices in Italy, India, Sri Lanka, and Bahrain and worked for eight years in Burgan Bank, Kuwait, as the Executive Vice President of Corporate Banking.
Prior to joining NCB, Mr. Hill was the Chief Executive Officer at the National Bank of Oman (NBO) - a position he held for eleven years. Under his leadership, NBO became the largest bank in the Sultanate in terms of net worth (US$335M), assets (US$2.5B), and profitability.
He has lived in eight countries in the West, the Middle East, Europe and Asia and has done business in 85 countries in total. He presently serves on the University Council (UWI) and is the Deputy Chairman of the Kingston City Centre Improvement Company Limited (KCCIC).

An avid sports enthusiast, Aubyn reads widely and maintains an interest in the effect of finance on politics. He is married with two children. |
